What it costs
We charge flat fees, quoted in writing before work starts, and never a fee based on the size of your refund. Prices last updated October 15, 2026.
Fees for most situations
These are starting prices for typical returns. After your first call we quote an exact flat fee in writing, and we hold a published price for 30 days after it changes. State filing fees and other third-party costs are paid at cost.
We never base a fee on the size of a refund. If a price changes after we quote it, we tell you why before we continue.

A fixed monthly fee, with no contract beyond a 30-day notice. Prices follow your number of transactions and employees.

How we quote
One number, in writing, before we start
After the free first call we send a one-page engagement letter with the services, the fee and who will do the work. You sign it in our practice software and nothing starts until you do.
If we find more work than we expected, we tell you before we do it, and you decide. We bill by invoice when the work is done, and we take card, check or bank payment through our firm’s billing page.
Questions about fees
How much does it cost to have my taxes done?
A basic individual return starts at $245, federal and one state. Self-employment or rental income starts at $425. After your first call we quote a flat price in writing before we begin, and it never depends on the size of your refund. Every price is on our Fees page.
How much do you charge for bookkeeping or payroll?
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $195 for up to 75 transactions. Bookkeeping with payroll for up to five employees starts at $395. The price follows your number of transactions and employees, and we tell you before you sign. Our packages are on the Fees page.
Is the first call free?
Yes. It’s 20 minutes by phone or video at no charge, and it covers whether we’re a good fit and what the work would cost. We can’t advise on your own return on that call. A 60-minute planning meeting is $150, and we take that off your fee if you hire us within 30 days.
